The former UFC champion is out of the scheduled pension war

The injuries continue to destroy in the twice UFC champion career, Dominick Cruz. The latter can send the UFC president and his team trying to find a replacement for UFC Seattle.

Wednesday, Cageside Press He reported that Cruz suffered an injury during the training that would force him from what he planned to be his retirement war against Rob Font on February 22 in the Arena hostage climate in Seattle.

Cruz and Tj Dilashaw are the only champions twice in the history of the Division, and the first is an indisputable future hall of fame.

He had hoped to go out in his conditions after a realized career – one that was dramatically influenced by injuries. However, the farewell struggle of Cruz’s career can have to wait – if it happens at all.

Cruz was lost nearly three years from 2011 to 2014 with an ACL torn and groin injury. The injuries occurred while he was the champion and forced him to rest the title. He returned with a TKO victory over Takeya Mizugaki in September 2014 to raise his title shot against Dilashaw in January 2016.

Cruz won by a separate decision to become a champion twice. He successfully defended his title against his rival Urijah Faber in June 2016 before being overloaded by Cody Garbrandt to lose the championship in December 2016.

After taking a year off, severe injury again hit Cruz’s career when a broken arm forced him to fight Jimmie Rivera in December 2017. Cruz wanted to return to Oktagon against John Lineker in January 2019, but one Shoulder damage was pushed out of the competition, and he did not fight again until May 2020.

Cruz lost his return to the octagon through the knockout in the hands of Henry Cejudo. Since losing to Cejudo, Cruz has fought only three times. He won a unanimous decision on Casey Kenney and Pedro Munhoz in May and December 2021, respectively, before knocking on a head from Marlon Vera in August 2022.

While standing, if Cruz returns for a farewell war, it may be nearly three years since he fought for the last time in Octagon. Cruz turns 40 years old on March 9. Since the early morning of February 6, the UFC had not found a replacement for Cruz on the card, which currently has the following fighting lineup:

  • Henry Cejudo Vs Song Yadong – Bantamweight for Men
  • Brendan allen vs anthony Hernandez – middle weight
  • Jean Silva vs Melsik Bagdasaryan – Featherweight
  • Curtis Blaydes vs Rizvan kuniev – heavy weight
  • Edson Barboza vs Steve Garcia – Featherweight
  • Ion cuțelaba vs ibo aslan – light heavy weight
  • Adam Fugitt Vs Billy Ray Goff – Welterweight
  • Ketlen vieira vs MACY Chiasson – Bantamweight for women
  • Ricky Simón vs Javid Basharat – Bantamweight for men
  • Mansur Abdul-Malik vs nick klein-middle
  • Modestas Bukauskas vs Raffael cerqueira – lightweight heavy weight
  • Andre Fili vs Melquizael Costa – Featherweight

Because the card already has 12 fights, the UFC may not replace the Cruz-Font war. However, there were rumors that Spokane resident Valley Michael Chiesa could be added to the card at one point.

Perhaps the attraction of Cruz makes it easier, as the card would still have only 13 fights. Stay tuned for the last word on this card in the coming weeks.
